Color-Code and Remedial Reading

Postby carjug » Tue Jan 29, 2008 10:01 am

I created a vowel sound color code, the results are at http://www.geocities.com/carjug . The code seems to help people with decoding issues read better, but has no effect on dyslexia. Anyone interested can write me at carjug@yahoo.com

The idea of trying to teach reading with colored letters has been around for a while. I don't take much stock in it. Letters already have unique shapes, and the sounds they make are based on the context they appear in; the sound of "fair" versus "fain" is completely arbitrary and hopelessly undecodable unless you already know the words these letters are trying to communicate.
