scores -- wha...?

Post by etaxier » Tue Sep 12, 2006 12:54 am

I've got a minor question, but it's one that keeps me up at least an extra five seconds every night. How on earth does the scoring work? I've made it without errors several times on the same level (to 14 meters), and it always gives me a different score. To illustrate....

0 errors, 14 meters: 1208 points.
At least 1 error, 13 meters: 1470 points (highest score!!).

As Seinfeld would say, whaaaaaaaaat's the deal?

There is a random factor. The scoring is (chord level) * (current distance) while errors score 0. If you travel a shorter distance but get a higher score, it means that the randomizer happened to present you with mostly the higher-level chords (e.g. chili pepper and basketball instead of diamond or flower) which score more.
