Re: About time I wrote something new

I'll do my best to make it as clear a path as possible. (Thanks for checking in.) The next entry is an explanation of what "musical phonemic awareness" means, as I see it (hear it?). It's taking me a little while because I'm trying to figure out exactly how, here, I initially want to expand on the c...

Re: About time I wrote something new

In fact, I just finished the next piece... it'll take me a lilbit to remind myself of how to get all the formatting and updating done (now that I have a new "phase" to create on the website) but it's written... it's an explanation of how I define "absolute pitch". I'll probably have it up tomorrow, ...

Re: About time I wrote something new

It's a-comin'. I expect it'll be a series of relatively short writings with a few weeks in between each; I'm taking quite a bit of time to ponder and revise so's I don't forget anything that matters and keep it as organized and direct as possible. Whether or not I succeed at that goal, I know the sc...

New users read me

No matter how many times I update phpBB, I keep getting drowned in spam. You don't see it because this spam takes the form of new users submitting new topics for moderation... and every time I log in here there are hundreds, sometimes thousands of these garbage messages. So if you are a new user and...

About time I wrote something new

I've started a new phase on the main page. An e-mail conversation with a parent using We Hear and Play made me realize that actually, I do have an idea of how adults can learn perfect pitch—but the process is so intensive and complex, as I see it, that I'm not going to put together a curriculum over...

Re: Chordhopper without testing

Hi!

I'm not sure what you mean "without testing". Do you mean you want to be able to hear the chords randomly?

Re: Chordhopper: Bug with chord #26 (C major 7)

Yes, that's undoubtedly what is going on. I apologize for that. (I'm glad that the keyboard is still working.) It's puzzling that the program wouldn't recognize the highlight for the hover, though, because it uses the same reference as does the key remap. I may be able to look into this... it's been...

Re: Should an old person even use the computer program?

Being able to "name notes" in the pseudo-AP sense of the term is as musical useful as my being able to name the letters of the Greek alphabet. It doesn't do any good unless it can be integrated with fluent language. I wonder what your experience is right now. Also, of course, "been shown to be" is a...

Re: Chris what are you up to?

Not dead! Here's the shortest version: Why no updates? Since finishing my PhD studies in 2012 I've been trying to stabilize my employment situation (yes, this whole time) which has impeded significant progress on everything else. It looks as though that may have finally turned around as of this year...

Yes, that's the problem. I've been looking into possibilities for app programming; that's really the only obvious next step.!

Re: Chordhopper replaces Chordfall?

Chordhopper is indeed the replacement for Chordfall. The value of Chordhopper and Absolute Pitch Avenue, together, is that they increase your ability to pick out individual pitches within tonal masses. That is: Chordhopper helps you to pick out the pitches in a chord, and Absolute Pitch Avenue teach...

Oh, and the reason for such a delay in my reply isn't just my being busy.. it's that the moderators' queue is regularly filled with literally thousands of spam messages, making it difficult to spot the real ones. I'm still here and active!

Re: What's new?

Hallo! Nothing very new to be found online right now. Where there will next be something new is in the We Hear and Play arena, but I can't promise when. Most of my "free" time right now (ha!) is focused on developing and expanding my work in rhythmical language ( A Rational Guide to Verse: Scansion ...

Re: Varying timbre

Honestly, I'm not sure-- I just know that every time I indicated a note other than the standard MIDI it didn't work on a PC. What "control change messages" are you referring to?
